Closest focus is only 12cm from outermost edge of the lens, 35mm setting, F 8. Focus on the program wheel of the camera.

Picture sharpness is very nice, even wide open. Stopped down it's astonishing, better than other manual zoom lenses. At F 22 however it's a bit blurred due to diffraction, but less than other lenses. This is a problem of the APS-C sensor size, not the lens (see comparison page). It has very good capabilities of close focussing due to a close focus setting. A very nice find. It's extremely solid, hence very heavy for the A6000.
